The Office of the Vice President for Research is excited to provide no-cost access for USC faculty, staff, students and postdocs to a web-based application called REDCap. REDCap is a self-service tool for building online surveys and databases quickly and securely through an internet browser. It also supports data acquisition, capture and management.
The REDCap survey tool offers a variety of functionality, including conditional logic, data uploads and advanced formatting. All data entered into REDCap is stored on a secure server and can be exported to formats useful to researchers for statistical analysis.
Getting started with REDCap
Visit redcap.research.sc.edu to get started:
- USC users may log in with the single sign-on credentials they use to log into other university applications by clicking the blue “SSO” button.
- Users with an existing REDCap login can sign in using the green “Local REDCap Login” button.
USC’s REDCap site offers a robust collection of support videos on the Training Resources tab to help users get up to speed on all that REDCap has to offer. These training resources are available to use without logging into the REDCap system.
Information for HSSC REDCap users
USC users who have existing REDCap projects in the Health Sciences South Carolina (HSSC) system (redcap.healthsciencessc.org) will need to take steps to migrate those projects to the USC platform.
To support this process and ensure all HSSC REDCap users complete migration successfully, the Office of the Vice President for Research:
- Has provided a set of step-by-step instructions to aid in Moving a Project Between REDCap Instances (PDF).
- Will send an email directly to all HSSC REDCap users at USC to notify them of the need to migrate their projects. This email will include detailed instructions on how to migrate projects to the new USC REDCap platform.
- Offers support for those with questions via a dedicated email address, [email protected].
