Grant Support

Maximize your potential for funding success by engaging with the Office of Research (OOR) on your next grant application. Our team of experts offer School of Medicine investigators guidance in all facets of grant development and the submission process.

The Office of Research supports proposals and ongoing projects in any phase of the development spectrum, including identifying funding opportunities, study design, grant submission, budget development, biostatistics and data analytics consultations, and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration.

Due to the number of people and programs we serve, the OOR recommends investigators seeking grant submission assistance engage with us as early in the process as possible.

To schedule a consultation with a OOR team member, email [email protected].

Grant Peer Review

Grant proposal review prior to submission is an important component of successful grant submissions. The OOR Peer Grant Review Program is a valuable resource for investigators to obtain useful pre-submission feedback of their proposals.

USC School of Medicine faculty/faculty affiliates and Columbia VA investigators are eligible to submit their research proposal for pre-submission review. Proposals will be reviewed using categories similar to NIH peer review and investigators will receive feedback from experienced researchers.

Investigators should submit, at a minimum, a research plan/strategy summary to include the research design and statistical approach, and funding announcement information (i.e. NIH RFA #). The submission of additional documents, such as specific aims page, references cited, biographical sketch, and ancillary documents is recommended for enhanced feedback of the overall proposal. For peer review of resubmissions, investigators must include any agency reviews (i.e. proposal scores sheet, summary statements, and “pink sheets”).

Documents should be submitted online via the  Peer Review request form no later than the review submission deadline indicated below.
